Forget flowers and brunch — this Mother’s Day, more women are dreaming about a getaway.
With Mother’s Day falling on May 10, interest in “momcations” is climbing rapidly. According to research from SIXT, online searches for Mother’s Day ideas have jumped 179% over the past month as travelers look for relaxing escapes centered on wellness, luxury and a well-earned break from everyday life.
Leading the rankings is Palm Beach, which earned the highest overall score at 92.5.
The island’s reputation for understated luxury makes it an easy choice. Visitors can spend the day unwinding at world-class spas, browsing the boutiques of Worth Avenue or enjoying a leisurely walk along the Atlantic Ocean. Palm Beach also boasts one of the quietest environments among the destinations studied, averaging just 42 decibels, along with an impressive 312.4 spas per 100,000 residents. Add in its refined atmosphere and year-round sunshine, and it’s no surprise the town is often compared to the Hamptons.
Newport also secured a spot in the top 10, finishing sixth with a score of 77.6.
The City by the Sea offers a distinctly New England version of luxury. Historic mansions, picturesque harbor views and elegant waterfront hotels create the backdrop for a slower pace of travel. Visitors can spend the day exploring the Cliff Walk, touring Gilded Age estates or relaxing at one of the area’s many spas before enjoying dinner overlooking the harbor.
The report notes Newport has 45 spas per 100,000 residents, an average sound level of 50 decibels and a walkability score of 88, making it especially appealing for visitors who prefer exploring on foot. The destination has also generated more than 2.1 million views on TikTok, highlighting its growing popularity with travelers.

- Palm Beach
