A Florida woman allegedly posed as a parking official on Palm Beach’s Worth Avenue and tricked drivers into handing over their credit cards — all for a bogus $1 parking deal, police say.
Ti’Miyah De’Asia Allen, 19, of West Palm Beach, was arrested after investigators accused her of impersonating a parking representative and using a fake badge and counterfeit handheld payment device to target unsuspecting motorists.
According to Palm Beach police, Allen approached drivers attempting to pay through the ParkMobile app and offered an “all-day” parking rate for about $1 — far below the town’s standard $5 hourly rate plus a 40-cent fee.
One victim who accepted the offer on June 5 later discovered a fraudulent $2,500 charge to a company called “Health Aid” on his credit card.
Authorities said Allen allegedly worked the 100 and 200 blocks of Worth Avenue while dressed in black and carrying what appeared to be official credentials. Victims told police she often approached drivers before they paid for parking or while they were using the app.
Police believe elderly visitors were specifically targeted. One woman, approached June 8, became suspicious when Allen claimed to represent the “Palm Beach Parking Authority” and offered future parking privileges for just $1. After asking to see identification, the woman declined to hand over her card.
Investigators used surveillance footage, license plate readers and witness statements to identify Allen. ParkMobile confirmed she was not employed by the company.
Police said Allen had previously been accused of a similar scheme while working at a West Palm Beach Wawa, where she allegedly voided customer transactions for personal gain.
Allen faces charges of falsely impersonating an officer, organized scheme to defraud and unlawful use of a badge or other indicia of authority.
