WEST PALM BEACH, FL – A new waterfront dining destination could soon rise along the Intracoastal in West Palm Beach.
City officials have selected Miami-based Breakwater Hospitality Group, the team behind The Wharf in Fort Lauderdale and Riverside Wharf in Miami, to negotiate a lease for Sea Salt Beach House, a proposed $18.7 million restaurant and event venue at Currie Park.
The two-story concept would feature indoor and outdoor waterfront dining for nearly 400 guests, a seafood-focused menu, and a second-floor event space designed to host weddings, nonprofit galas, community gatherings and private celebrations.
The proposal was unanimously chosen by the city’s selection committee over competing bids that included developers behind Nora and E.R. Bradley’s, along with the family behind Panama Hattie’s Rum Bar.
If lease negotiations are successful and the City Commission grants final approval, Sea Salt Beach House will become part of the city’s ongoing $37 million transformation of Currie Park, creating another destination along West Palm Beach’s rapidly evolving waterfront.
Beyond the restaurant itself, Breakwater Hospitality Group envisions the project as a year-round community hub. Plans call for public events including live music, culinary festivals, fitness programming, holiday markets and family activities, with the company emphasizing that the venue is intended to complement the park rather than compete with it.
The proposal also includes a 30-year lease with two optional 15-year extensions. Breakwater has offered the city $150,000 annually in base rent, plus 3% of gross revenue above $10 million. The company estimates annual payments could exceed $316,000 by the fifth year.
Construction is expected to take about 18 months once approvals are secured, bringing a new dining, entertainment and event destination to one of West Palm Beach’s signature waterfront parks.
