A woman’s body was found floating about two miles off the Boca Raton coast Tuesday morning, sparking an active police investigation.
Just after 8 a.m., a boater called authorities after spotting the body approximately two miles east of 2500 N. Ocean Blvd., according to the Boca Raton Police Department.
Officers and the department’s Dive Team responded and recovered the woman from the water. Boca Raton Fire Rescue, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the U.S. Coast Guard also assisted at the scene.
Investigators said the woman is believed to be a white female between 40 and 50 years old with brown and gray hair. She was wearing a blue T-shirt when she was found.
Police have not identified the woman or released any information about what may have led to her death. The investigation remains ongoing.
