There are songs that define an era, and then there are songs that refuse to stay in one. Earth, Wind & Fire have plenty of the latter. “September” still sends people toward the dance floor, “Let’s Groove” still sounds like an invitation you’d be foolish to turn down, and Philip Bailey’s soaring vocal on “Reasons” can bring a room to a standstill.
On Saturday, March 6, 2027, the band brings that catalog to Dreyfoos Hall at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach. Bailey, bassist Verdine White and percussionist Ralph Johnson—original members and longtime anchors of the group—will lead the performance.
Earth, Wind & Fire began in 1969 as the vision of Maurice White, who built a band that could move between funk, soul, R&B and jazz without losing its pulse. The result was music ambitious enough to fill an arena and immediate enough to make strangers sing together. Across 23 albums, the group has sold more than 100 million records worldwide and scored eight No. 1 hits.
The honors followed: nine Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016; induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000; and the Kennedy Center Honors in 2019. But the best argument for the band’s staying power is still in the songs. Decades after their release, they remain fixtures at weddings, parties and anywhere else people need a reason to move.
The show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $97.75, including fees, and go on sale Saturday, October 3, at 10 a.m. at kravis.org or by calling 561-832-7469.
