President Donald Trump could be returning to Palm Beach this weekend, and the Federal Aviation Administration is already preparing for his possible arrival.
The FAA has announced presidential-level VIP flight restrictions for Oct. 16-18, signaling a possible return to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate for the first time since May.
The timing is no coincidence. Mar-a-Lago’s exclusive Beach Club is hosting its season-opening party Saturday, Oct. 17, potentially welcoming the president back for the start of Palm Beach’s social season.
If confirmed, the trip would mark Trump’s 28th visit to Mar-a-Lago during his second term and his first arrival at the newly renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport.
HERE’S WHEN THE RESTRICTIONS TAKE EFFECT:
Friday, October 16: 5:30 p.m. through Saturday, October 17, at 12:30 p.m.
Saturday, October 17: 4:30 p.m. through Sunday, October 18, at 12:30 p.m.
The presidential restrictions extend up to 30 nautical miles around Palm Beach, with tighter security measures within a 10-nautical-mile radius.
ADDITIONAL AIRPORT SECURITY RESTRICTIONS
The FAA has also established a separate security restriction near Palm Beach International Airport, beginning Friday, Oct. 16, at 4:30 p.m. and continuing through Sunday, Oct. 18, at 8:20 p.m.
The restriction covers a two-nautical-mile radius, approximately 2.3 miles, from ground level to 2,000 feet above ground level.
EXPECT ROAD CLOSURES AND DELAYS
For Palm Beach residents and visitors, a presidential visit means more than restricted skies.
Motorists should prepare for possible road closures, detours and traffic delays, particularly along South Ocean Boulevard near Mar-a-Lago, where security checkpoints typically accompany presidential visits.
Boaters and pilots should monitor FAA and U.S. Coast Guard advisories for additional restrictions.
Trump last visited Mar-a-Lago May 1-2. While his weekend itinerary has not been officially confirmed, the FAA notices suggest the Winter White House may soon welcome its most famous resident back.
