WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — The grills are firing up for one of West Palm Beach’s tastiest traditions.
The 11th annual BBQ, Brews and Blues returns to Heart & Soul Park in the Historic Northwest on Saturday, Sept. 5, from 5 to 9 p.m. The free celebration will feature South Florida barbecue, live blues, craft beer, family activities and plenty of friendly competition.
This year’s “Fired Up” edition will bring together 10 barbecue restaurants and food trucks, including GA’s Smokin BBQ, Earl’s Slow And Low BBQ, Twisted Smoke BBQ, DA KING OF BBQ, Eat Da Bone BBQ and Foster’s BBQ.
Pitmasters will compete in the BBQ Throwdown for $1,500 in prizes, with $1,000 and a trophy going to the first-place winner. Guests will also choose a $500 People’s Choice winner, which will be announced at 8 p.m. A separate Sauce Throwdown offers another $500 prize.
Internationally known blues artist Selwyn Birchwood will headline the Main Stage, joined by hometown favorites The Derek Mack Band. DJ Scoobz will keep the Front Porch moving with summertime hits.
The Kids Play Pit will feature giant bubbles, face painting, inflatables, games, a firetruck touch-a-truck experience and the West Palm Beach Police Department Party Trailer, complete with popcorn and ice pops.
Adults can purchase a $20 craft beer tasting package featuring five samples and a souvenir cup. A limited $50 VIP experience in the Sunset Lounge includes two drink tickets, unlimited water and soda, air-conditioned space, private restroom access, a performance by Miami’s Kat Riggins and a chance to meet Birchwood.
“For 10 years, BBQ, Brews and Blues has brought our community together for great food, unforgettable music, and family-friendly memories,” Mayor Keith A. James said.
Admission is free. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Heart & Soul Park is located at 825 N. Rosemary Ave.
